Ancient Cracked Voice came into existence around AD 2006. Two individuals from Coventry, a generation apart with a common interest….making music.

Their first meeting was many years before as teacher and pupil at Alderman’s Green Junior School. Who the teacher? Who the pupil? Paths cross and intertwine in the mysterious movements of lives lived.

John Stringbean Cumming recently emerged from several decades as the singer and frontman for the legendary Armpit Jug Band. 

Chris Smith vocalist and guitarist for several Coventry bands, and most recently, The Marmites and acoustic offshoot The Kazoos!

The intention of the two was to take pleasure in the creative process of music making and recording.
